The Red Sox don’t expect starting pitcher Lucas Giolito to play at all during the 2025 MLB postseason, manager Alex Cora said before Game 1 of the Wild Card.
The Red Sox do not expect Lucas Giolito to pitch again this year, manager Alex Cora announced Tuesday afternoon.
“It seems like it’s not as bad as we thought in the beginning, but we’re still gathering information,” Cora began. “Hopefully it’s just rest, but obviously it doesn’t seem like he’s going to be able to pitch in October.”
The update comes barely 24 hours after Cora broke the news that Giolito would not be on the team’s Wild Card roster.
