The founder of conservative student group Turning Point USA was rushed to hospital for surgery.
US right-wing activist and commentator Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck on Wednesday at an event at Utah Valley University and a suspect was taken into custody.
Kirk, 31, was transported to a hospital and underwent surgery, according to a university spokesperson. His condition was unknown. A spokesperson for Kirk, an influential ally of US President Donald Trump and co-founder of Turning Point USA, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
