Jennifer Lopez is inviting audiences to get a little campy with it this Halloween season with Kiss of the Spider Woman, the new musical movie opening in theaters this weekend.
Written and directed by seasoned musical director Bill Condon (known for Chicago, Dreamgirls, and more), the 2025 Kiss of the Spider Woman movie is based on the stage musical of the same name by Terrence McNally, John Kander, and Fred Ebb (which itself was based on the 1976 novel by Manuel Puig). Perhaps you remember the 1985 film adaptation of the musical, for which William Hurt won an Oscar. Could this be JLo’s chance to follow in Hurt’s footsteps?
The new 2025 Kiss of the Spider Woman stars Diego Luna as Valentin, a political prisoner who bonds with his cellmate, Molina (played by Tonatiuh). Molina regales Valentin with a retelling of his favorite Hollywood musical, starring his favorite Hollywood diva, Ingrid Luna (Lopez).
