Congress has reached a deal to reopen the government, ending a 40-day shutdown that left federal agencies closed and thousands of workers furloughed.
According to Fox News, Senate Democrats signaled enough support for the revised plan, allowing lawmakers to move forward with votes and bring the shutdown to an end.
The updated continuing resolution will fund the government through Jan. 30, 2026, reverse firings of furloughed workers, and ensure back pay for those affected.
Senate Appropriations Chair Susan Collins, R-Maine, led the bipartisan negotiations, with Democratic Senators Angus King, I-Maine, Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.
