“Mature” marks Hilary Duff’s return to pop music with her first new single in a decade.
Breathe in, breathe out, Hilary Duff stans because this is “what dreams are made of.”
The millennial role model that is Hilary Duff has returned to music with her new single “Mature.” It’s Duff’s first song in a decade, with her last album, “Breathe In. Breathe Out.” being released in June 2015. Duff also surprised fans by announcing that she would be doing four live performances as part of the “Small rooms, big nerves” tour happening at the end of January. The tour will kick off in London on Jan. 19, stop in Toronto on Jan. 24, visit Brooklyn on Jan. 27, and end in Los Angeles at the Wiltern on Jan. 29.
Fans can sign up for Duff’s presale through Ticketmaster by Nov. 12 at 11 p.m. PT. Presale tickets go on sale on Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. local time and general sale starts on the same day at 3 p.m. local time.
Duff also announced that she would be using Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange program, meaning tickets would be non-transferable and could only be resold at their original price on Ticketmaster, in an effort to prevent inflated resale prices. Tickets for the concerts will likely be in high demand due to the limited number of shows and fan demand, as Duff hasn’t toured since 2008’s “Dignity” Tour.
Duff’s quick tour announcement came as a surprise to fans who were still enjoying Duff’s new single “Mature.”
“She’s me, I’m her in a different font,” the song begins as Duff paints the piece’s tone. “Just a few years younger, a new haircut. Very Leo of you with your Scorpio touch.”
The theme of the song is Duff talking to her younger self, and the lyrics seem to reflect on an age-gap relationship she now looks back on differently. It’s in the catchy chorus that Duff notes on how being called “mature for your age” can feel like a compliment when you’re young, but as you get older, it has a new meaning.
