American officials say the operation was led by the Coast Guard with support from the military.
The US has seized another tanker off the coast of Venezuela, according to American officials.
The ongoing operation is led by the Coast Guard, with the US military providing support with its helicopters, an official told NBC, Sky’s US partner.
Both the Coast Guard and the Pentagon referred questions about the action to the White House, which has yet to comment.
It comes after the US seized a sanctioned oil tanker, called Skipper, off the coast of Venezuela last week.
Meanwhile, there’s been a steady build up of US forces in the region, effectively placing Venezuela under embargo.
«Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled in the History of South America», US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday.
