An update for Xbox One is coming today on your console bringing several new features and improvements. The May Xbox One Update features Discord and 120Hz Refresh Rate support and improvements to the family settings and Xbox Accessories App.
According to Microsoft, the May Xbox One update is part of their ongoing effort to improve the Xbox experience by implementing some cool features to the console. The company has already stated that their main concern is focusing on their console services more than exclusive titles, so big updates like this are not a new thing. What you’ll find more useful as an Xbox One owner is Discord support which allows you to find friends playing on Xbox through the application and display your status. Here’s how to do it:
Starting from the Discord app on PC or on a mobile device, you will see an option to link your Xbox account with your Discord account through the Connections tab under User Settings. Click on the Xbox Live option and sign in to your account. After enabling permission, your accounts will be linked.
Starting from your Xbox One, open the Account Settings menu and select “Linked social accounts.” Here, you will see a new option for linking your Discord account. Once you receive your unique code from Xbox, open the Discord app and insert the code into the Connections tab.
Another big update to the Xbox One featured in the May update is 120Hz Video Refresh Rate Support. Apart from the 1440p resolution and auto low latency mode on your console, you can now turn on 120Hz support for 1080p and 1440p output resolutions if you own a supported monitor or television. The feature is available on Xbox One S and Xbox One X.
Starting with the May Xbox One update you’ll be able to trim your recent game captures and share them on Twitter from the in-game Guide. This may look like a small implementation but one thing’s for sure, we’ll use that one all the time.
As for the upcoming improvements on May Xbox One update, you can now browse through the new “Details” page on your family settings tab to easily check if your family is protected while using the Xbox One.
A new updated version of Xbox Accessories is also available now, with easier navigation and a slicker look. This update comes just in time since Microsoft has just announced a new Xbox One Adaptive Controller, so the new app will make things a bit easier when you’ll try to set it up.
What do you think about the new May Xbox One update? What feature would you want to see on the console in the future?
