Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball’s brother LiAngelo will be among six players in a pre-draft workout for the team on Tuesday, the Lakers announced Friday in a Twitter post.
The 19-year-old LiAngelo Ball will join Jaylen Adams (St. Bonaventure), Tyus Battle (Syracuse), Devon Hall (Virginia), Dusan Ristic (Arizona) and Thomas Welsh (UCLA) in the workout.
LiAngelo, the second of three basketball-playing Ball brothers, left UCLA during his freshman season for a Lithuania professional league following his controversial shoplifting arrest on a team trip to China. LiAngelo averaged 12.6 points per game for Vytautas Prienu this season.
The 6-foot-5 LiAngelo said recently that he wanted to join his brother, the No. 2 overall pick in last summer’s NBA draft, on the Lakers.
«The Lakers are my priority, for sure,» LiAngelo said recently on ESPNLA radio. «I want to play with my brother. Ever since I played with ‘Zo, we went undefeated. When we get older, we will get stronger, faster and a better feel for the game.
«I’m willing to play for other teams, but my priority is to play with my brother.»
Lonzo Ball averaged 10.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists in an injury-riddled rookie season for the Lakers.
The Lakers own the No. 25 pick in the first round of the June draft, along with No. 47 in the second round.
