At this year’s MWC held in Barcelona, Taiwanese handset maker ASUS announced the ZenFone 5 series, with the ZenFone 5Z being the pinnacle of its range. The flagship smartphone was among the very first offerings to come with the high-end Snapdragon 845 processor and a 19:9 display with a notch on top. And after a long wait, the brand has finally launched the 5Z in the country today.
The ASUS ZenFone 5Z comes with a 6.2-inch full HD+ with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and a notch up top. The cut-out houses the selfie camera, an ambient sensor, and the earpiece. If you don’t find the notch distracting however, ASUS gives you the option to hide it. As mentioned above, the handset gets the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with a dedicated AI engine. ASUS has launched the smartphone in three RAM and storage configurations – 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB. As for the security, the latest launch offers a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and the face unlock capability.
In the camera department, the ASUS ZenFone 5Z comes with a 12-megapixel primary camera aided by a secondary 8-megapixel shooter on the back. ASUS has equipped the dual-camera module with features like AI scene detection, AI photo learning, TriTech autofocus, PDAF, OIS, EIS, and Dual Pixel autofocus. There’s an 8-megapixel shooter on the front for selfies and video calling. The ZenFone 5Z boots Android Oreo out of the box and is powered by a 3,300mAh battery which supports ASUS BoostMaster fast charging tech. Other features include dual 5-magnet speakers, PMIC internal dual amplifiers, dual microphones, hi-res audio, DTX Headphone: X headphones support.
Available in Meteor Silver and Midnight Blue colours, the ZenFone 5Z is Flipkart-exclusive in India and will go on sale starting July 9th. As for the pricing, the base variant will retail for Rs 29,999, the 6GB version will set you back by Rs 32,999 and the high-end 8GB model will cost Rs 36,999. The smartphone is also available with a number of launch offers, including an instant cashback of Rs 3,000 on using ICICI debit and credit cards. Additionally, ASUS’ handset comes with Flipkart’s Complete Mobile Protection cover free of charge as well as cashback of up to Rs 2,200 with Reliance Jio.
