Microsoft has updated its Surface computer lineup with the launch of a new Surface Go tablet. The portable tablet brings most of the features of Microsoft Surface Pro at a much affordable price point. The notable similarities include the PixelSense display, design elements, and an in-built kickstand.
Talking about Microsoft Surface Go specifications, the tablet sports a 10-inch ( 1800×1200 pixels) display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and 217ppi. It further supports Surface Pen, which according to Microsoft has 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, and precision for accurate note taking. Under the hood, the Surface Go is powered by a 7th-generation Intel Pentium Gold 4415Y processor. The chipset is paired with either 4GB of RAM / 64GB of eMMC storage and 8GB of RAM and 128GB SSD storage. The tablet runs on Windows 10 OS out-of-the-box.
The Surface Go also features a kickstand with unlimited positions and a front camera with facial recognition technology. For photography, it boasts an 8MP sensor on the rear and 5MP sensor on the front. The device also comes Surface Connector port for charging as well as connecting it to a desktop dock. Moreover, a USB Type-C 3.1 is also included that can charge the tablet as well as transfer data to external devices. The Surface Go’s battery capacity is unspecified, but the company claims it can last up to nine hours.
Other features of the Microsoft Surface Go include a 10- finger multitouch screen, microSDXC card reader, 3.5mm headphone jack, and support for detachable keyboard covers. Initially, only the Wi-Fi versions of Surface Go will go for sale; the LTE equipped model is expected to come later this year.
Pre-orders of the Surface Go start from July 10 onwards on selected countries and will start shipping from August 2. As for the pricing, the tablet will retail at $399 (roughly Rs 27,400) for the base variant. Sadly, Microsoft is yet to divulge if and when the Surface Go is expected to land on Indian shores.
