The era of World of Warcraft: Legion is coming to an end as World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth’s arrival approaches. The pre-patch for the new expansion includes class changes, overhauls and rebalances, as well as a stat squish.
The era of Legion is coming to an end as World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth ’s arrival approaches. Next week, on July 17, the Battle for Azeroth pre-expansion patch will be released. Not only will the patch remove some old content, it’ll also update the classes and add new quests for players to experience before Battle for Azeroth ’s release.
When the pre-patch goes live, all of Battle for Azeroth ’s class changes, overhauls and rebalances will be updated for the live server. To compensate, the Legion Artifact weapon traits will be disabled, leaving players with a normal stat-stick to hit things or cast spells with. However, players will be able to transmog any weapon into their old Artifact — as long as it’s the same archetype.
Another major change coming in the pre-patch is WoW ’s second stat squish. After only two expansions, Blizzard has reduced the stats on enemies, NPCs and players across the board. The goal — as with Warlords of Draenor — is for this squish to be even across all aspects of the game. This shouldn’t mean that anything in WoW is easier or harder than it was before, just that players will have more reasonable numbers to look at.
War Mode is also coming for players trapped on PvP or PvE servers, letting everyone toggle world PvP on or off as long as they’re in their faction’s capital city. Finally, there will be new quests for players to tackle each week leading up to Battle for Azeroth ’s release.
Patch 8.0 will be released for World of Warcraft on Mac and Windows PC on July 17, with the Battle for Azeroth expansion launching only a few weeks later on Aug. 14.
