A leaked image suggests that Playground Games’ forthcoming Forza Horizon 4 will feature a crossover with Halo by hosting the first-person shooter’s Warthog as a vehicle.
About a couple of months ago, one fan who pre-ordered Forza Horizon 4 received an early download of the forthcoming racing simulation sequel, and then decided to share some early information about the game by leaking the entire car list ahead of launch. While this has most certainly been a headache for Microsoft and Playground Games to deal with, it looks as if yet another leak has prematurely let the cat out of the bag, as an image showing Halo‘s Warthog suggests the new racing title will feature a crossover with the first-person shooter franchise.
As seen in the image below from the Forza Horizon 4 fan and Redditor known as “DusenberryPie”, it appears as if not only will the forthcoming racing game sequel feature Halo‘s Warthog as a playable vehicle, but also there’s a chance that a bonus track could come alongside the first-person shooter’s LRV. Looking closer at the background seems to show the Halo ring in the distance, suggesting that the Warthog’s addition will also bring about a Halo-themed track, too.
For those unaware, this won’t be the first instance of Halo‘s Warthog showing up in the Forza Horizon series, as the first-person shooter’s LRV also made an appearance in the racing franchise’s third entry. However, instead of simply being featured as an unlockable vehicle, according to GameZone, Forza Horizon 4 will feature a mission centering around the Warthog, as Microsoft and Playground Games briefly teased it during E3 2018 via a map icon shown off during gameplay.
As far as the mission’s contents are concerned, Forza Horizon 4 will apparently have players driving a Warthog through a course in order to reach an extraction point before a nuclear explosion is set off. Upon racing to the finish, drivers will see other Halo assets such as a Pelican flying in the sky, Banshees doing stunts, other Covenant vehicles in the air, and even the aforementioned Halo ring displayed in the distance. Plus, the voice of Cortana and “some other AI” will be included as well.
All things considered, while Forza Horizon 4‘s inclusion of Halo‘s Warthog won’t come as much of surprise to most fans, the mission and course designed around the LRV’s addition to the game will definitely be seen as a nice nod to the first-person shooter franchise as a whole. Hopefully, Microsoft and Playground Games have even more surprises in store and are also able to keep them under wraps until launch.
Forza Horizon 4 is scheduled to release on October 11,2018 for PC and Xbox One.
