Nintendo kicks off PAX West with a second Indie Highlights video in as many weeks.
You’re gonna need a bigger SD card, because those indie games keep on coming. Hot on the heels of last week’s surprise Indie Highlights presentation for Gamescom, Nintendo has released another short video detailing some more indie titles heading to the Switch in 2018, and early 2019.
And just like last week, there was a surprise release announcement, with Subset Games’ highly acclaimed turn-based strategy game, Into the Breach, arriving on the Switch eShop today.
You can watch the full video over on the Nintendo website, but here’s a list of the confirmed game announcements, and release dates
Nintendo also continues to address the ever-growing problem of discoverability on the Switch with the launch of a new Indie Highlights Hub, which details upcoming and notable titles, and an Indie News channel on the Switch itself.

Publisher DotEmu has confirmed that Streets of Rage 4 – a brand new game in the classic brawler franchise – is in development.
Following on from their wonderful work on Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, developer Lizardcube has partnered with Guard Crush Games – best known for the Xbox 360’s Streets of Fury, and its sequel – to create a new game in the classic Streets of Rage series.
The franchise spawned three games on Sega consoles, with the last coming to the Sega Genesis in 1994. Streets of Rage 4 is an all-new game, and builds on the originals with a new story, and new combat mechanics. The game will support solo and multiplayer play.
Here’s the reveal trailer.
Although the Streets of Rage 4 features some glorious hand-drawn visuals, it’s fair to say that it doesn’t deviate too far in tone or style from the original. Expect to see plenty of white t-shirts, denim, and red leather hot pants.
If the game can live up to Lizardcube’s masterful remake of Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, this is something to look forward to.
At the time of writing, no release date or platform has been confirmed, but we’d expect to see it on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and PC before the end of the year.

Microsoft has launched Xbox All Access, a new monthly payment plan that includes an Xbox One console, Xbox Live Gold, and Xbox Game Pass.

Microsoft has launched Xbox All Access, a new monthly plan that includes an Xbox One console, Xbox Live Gold, and Xbox Game Pass.
The new initiative is effectively a 24-month, zero percent credit agreement that includes a choice of Xbox console, and access to Microsoft’s two game-related subscription services, for a fixed monthly fee.
There are two tiers on offer. The first is priced at $21.99 per month, and includes an Xbox One S console, plus subscription to Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass. For $34.99 per month, subscribers can get the more powerful Xbox One X, along with Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass. At the end of the two-year contract, the hardware is yours to keep. Basically, it’s just like a phone plan.
Xbox Live gives users access to Microsoft’s online multiplayer services, plus a selection of free games each month with Games with Gold .
Xbox Game Pass currently offers subscribers access to over 100 Xbox games, including all first-party Microsoft-published titles such as Sea of Thieves, the Forza series, and the shambling State of Decay 2. It was recently announced that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will shortly come to Game Pas, and will also receive a 4K Xbox One X upgrade.
Xbox All Access does offer a saving over the combined recommended retail prices of the hardware and services, but if you consider the continual offers, console bundles, and game discounts, the total price is likely to be very similar. Nevertheless, it’s a cost-effective way to get on board with a console generation that will probably last for another, hmm, two years.
In addition to shifting some Xbox One stock, we expect the new payment model is also acting as a toe in the water for Microsoft’s next console, codenamed Scarlet.
At the time of writing, Xbox All Access is only available in the U. S., and will only be offered for a limited time. You can find out more over at the official Microsoft store.

Four indie games are now available as My Nintendo Gold Point rewards.
Nintendo has updated the My Nintendo rewards programme with four Nintendo 3DS games that can be redeemed in full using gold points. My Nintendo usually restricts its offers to discounts, so picking up a game without the need for extra cash is something of a rarity.
Pick of the bunch is the mighty Mighty Switch Force 2. WayForward’s action-platformer – and its equally fun predecessor – are perfect 3DS games that use the console’s stereoscopic display to great effect.
Also available is Drinkbox Studio’s inventive adventure game, Severed.
