Around 2:50 a.m. Sept. 23, troopers from the MSP South Post were dispatched to westbound I-94 at Middlebelt Road to investigate a crash involving a car that hit a pole and caught fire.
ROMULUS, MI — A man died Sunday after a vehicle crashed and caught on fire on westbound I-94, according to the Michigan State Police.
Around 2:50 a.m. Sept. 23, troopers from the MSP South Post were dispatched to westbound I-94 at Middlebelt Road to investigate a crash involving a car that hit a pole and caught fire.
When troopers arrived at the scene, they saw a person inside the engulfed vehicle.
The man died at the scene after troopers unsuccessfully attempted to put out the fire.
Next of kin have not been notified, police said.
A cause of the crash has not yet been determined. An investigation is ongoing.
