The Galaxy A9 has officially been announced and it comes with a quad-camera setup coupled with capable all-round specifications
After a barrage of leaks and rumors, the Galaxy A9 has finally been announced and quite surprisingly, it features a quad-camera setup before such an upgrade was found on Samsung’s flagship devices. Well, it is finally here and we will be discussing this and more in the official announcement. Needless to say, the Galaxy A9 impresses quite a lot in the specifications and features department, so Samsung is actually staying true to its word that the Korean giant will incorporate high-end features on its mid-range lineup.
The Galaxy A9 uses the same Infinity Display that is found on Samsung’s high-end smartphones and it also features the Super AMOLED screen along with a 2,280 x 1,080 resolution. The display size measures in at 6.3 inches diagonally, so it is larger than the Galaxy S9+ Plus and only a fraction smaller than the Galaxy Note 9. This is certainly an impressive device and it is about to get even better after you check out the rest of the specifications, especially the camera side of things.

For performance, the Galaxy A9 will rely on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE chipset coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB of the base model. Samsung has gone all-out in the memory department because the highest specifications version of the newly announced smartphone features up to 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal memory, though this variant is going to be limited to certain markets. Do note that you can expand that existing storage up to 512GB via microSD card slot but we are certain that it will take up a single SIM card slot.
Probably the biggest highlight of the Galaxy A9 is its quad-camera setup on a single side. While the front side houses a single 24MP selfie camera, the backside is where all the magic takes place. The primary camera is a 24MP RGB sensor, and it is coupled with a 10MP telephoto camera that is able to provide 2x lossless zoom function for taking images without losing quality. Next, we have an 8MP 120-degree ultra-wide-angle lens that will provide more background in the shot that you are about to snap. Lastly, we have a 5MP depth-sensing sensor, which will be responsible for snapping images with a Bokeh effect and provides features like Live Focus.
For its size, the Galaxy A9 sports a generous 3,800mAh battery and is running Samsung’s custom UI. While the company is not wrong about incorporating premium flagship features on mid-range handsets, we would also like to see the same effort from them when it comes to software updates. Hopefully, customers who plan to upgrade to the Galaxy A9 will not have to wait too long for the device to be updated to Android 9 Pie. Currently, it is running the Android 8.0 Oreo update and it uses a Type-C USB port for charging purposes.
