It’s just been a month since the Nokia 7 Plus got the stable Android 9 Pie release, and now the smartphone is receiving the new Android security patch. HMD Global has remained particularly active with the Android One program, hence, the Nokia smartphones are quick to get all the major updates. To recall, the Nokia 6.1 also started receiving the stable Android 9 Pie update yesterday, on October 30.
The update packs the Android security patch only and weighs 109.2MB. It seems to be location-independent as several users from different countries have reported that they have got it. The October Android security patch has arrived just in time and the Nokia 7 Plus already runs on the Android 9 Pie, so we are expecting to get a few bug fixes.
The Nokia 7 Plus features a 6.0-inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Under the hood, the device is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 660 processor, paired with 4GB RAM. For optics, the smartphone features a 12MP+13MP dual-camera setup at the rear and a 16MP selfie-snapper at the front. The device is backed by a 3800mAh battery and runs on the latest Android 9 Pie.
HMD Global has pushed three devices to the Android Pie list, while two of them are running on the stable update. In the latest development, the company CPO, Juho Services has confirmed the last-gen Nokia smartphones, Nokia 3,5, and 6 will also get to experience the Android 9 Pie. However, the timeline of the release has not been provided.
After the Nokia 6.1, the Nokia 6.1 Plus is next in line to get the stable update, while the Nokia 8 and the Nokia 8 Sirocco remain in line for the release in November. The Nokia 6.1 Plus received the beta update of the latest OS, earlier this month. We are hoping to see the final release on this popular Nokia smartphone soon. With the ongoing pace of HMD Global, we are expecting a good number of Nokia smartphones to get the Android 9 Pie update by the end of the year.
The major changes and features that the Android 9 Pie brings to the Nokia smartphones include the all-new gesture-based navigation system, several UI changes, settings revamp, notification improvements, usability improvements, and more.
The major highlights of the Android 9 Pie update include Adaptive Brightness, Slices, and System navigation. The Adaptive Brightness feature adapts the handset’s brightness on the basis of the previous interactions with different phone settings. The slices feature identifies the relevant information on your frequently-used apps and makes them easily accessible. The all-new system navigation feature provides a single home button that makes multi-tasking more approachable and easier to understand.
Some other notable feature that the Android 9 Pie update brings is Digital Wellbeing. This feature allows you to keep track of how much time you are spending on your smartphone and what are you doing while you are on your phone. It keeps track of the notifications sent by the apps, the amount of time you spend on the individual apps on your device, and other important details. These details are converted into an easy data format, and based on the data, you can keep a check on your smartphone addiction. In addition to this, you can also set time limits for each app and cut back on the time you spend on your device.
