Here is how to rob banks and stores in Red Dead Redemption 2 and get away with it, making a lot of money while avoiding getting a massive bounty too.
In Red Dead Redemption 2, one of the main goals is to make money. Not only is money the key to getting new weapons and equipment for Arthur but money is also used to purchase camp upgrades and supplies for the gang and it’s needed to get rid of bounties. This being a game about outlaws, the best way to earn money is to perform robberies of banks and stores.
Arthur will take part in bank robberies as part of the game’s story, but, if players are feeling brave enough then they can also rob banks by themselves. Banks are found in most major settlements on the map and they make for one of the most lucrative targets for a robbery that players can find.
To rob a bank, players will need to threaten the teller and get them to open the bank vault. Once inside, players will need to figure out how to open the safe. Cracking the safe is a much safer option than just blowing it open with dynamite as it attracts less attention and, according to player anecdotes, it seems to net a higher take too.
Bank robberies end in shootouts (these always seems to be the case) so players should come well prepared before taking one on.
A slightly easier type of robbery is the store robbery. Red Dead Redemption 2 lets players rob all kinds of stores in the game, ranging from the general store to the gunsmith. Store robberies are far less lucrative than bank robberies, so there is a risk that your taking may be smaller than the bounty you may need to pay off. That’s something to keep in mind before going ahead with one.
Robbing a store is as easy as entering it and pointing a gun at the clerk, telling them to open up the register. Players are able to kill the clerk and rob the entire shop too. That’s why it’s recommended that players rob the game’s gunsmiths as players can save a substantial amount of money on ammo, gear, and new weapons by doing so.
As with all criminal activity in the game, robbing banks and stores in Red Dead Redemption 2 comes with the risk of being chased by the law and winding up with a massive bounty to pay-off. Areas may even go into lockdown if you’ve killed enough people.
But players can get away with crimes if they’re smart about it. When robbing a store, players should equip their mask and make sure that once they’ve left the store, the lawmen don’t see them. Stealth killing the clerk and robbing a store when it’s dark (there are less likely to be witnesses) may also help players avoid getting a bounty.
Bank robberies are much harder to get away with. However, if players have made sure to rob the bank quietly (cracking the safe, not blowing it up) and have dealt with any witnesses (either by killing or threatening them) then they may be able to escape without the law on their tail.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on PS4 and Xbox One.
