The new troll-based expansion for Hearthstone Rastakhan’s Rumble comes out on December 5. Play with new legendary minions, mechanics, and spirit cards in the Gurubashi Arena.
The Hearthstone Rastakhan’s Rumble expansion has been announced for the popular digital card game during the Blizzcon 2018 opening ceremony. This new set centers around the trolls of Azeroth as they make their generational pilgrimage to fight and earn glory in the arena and features 135 new cards including nine new legendary minions based on the animal spirit gods or Loa that the trolls worship. The expansion will come out on December 4 on all platforms for $49.99 or $19.99, depending on what bundle you get.
Logging in to the game will grant players a free random Legendary Loa as well as two copies of a random Spirit card from the same class and six of the expansions card packs. Leading up to the event a single 17-pack challengers bundle and a 50-pack Rastakhan’s Rumble bundle can be purchased. Both packs include the exclusive Ready to Rumble! card back but the 50-pack also comes with the Shaman King Rastakhan Hero.
These new legendary cards will support new and different play styles such as the 7/5 Paladin class Loa Shirvallah, the Tiger who sports Divine Shield, Rush, and Lifesteal. Such a powerful card has its drawbacks, initially costing a seemingly impossible 25-mana to play. Every mana spent on spells brings the cost down, encouraging a spell-heavy start to play this powerful creature.
Spirit cards are also included which are rare 0/3 class minions. While they may not seem dangerous on their own, they come with other special abilities. For example, the Rogue card Spirit of the Shark enables double battle cries and combos of other minions to synergize with other cards in your deck.
Overkill is also being introduced as a new keyword. This is designed to play off the arena feel of the expansion synthesizing an especially gruesome or over the top victory. When taking out an enemy minion by dealing more damage than required cards with Overkill will incur a bonus. The new 4/4 6-mana weapon Sul’thraze is one example of this as it can attack again after overkilling a minion until it breaks.
A new single-player mode dubbed Rumble Run also comes with this expansion. This follows the story of a players chosen troll champion in their attempt to defeat their foes in the Gurubashi Arena.
