Bethesda has released an official statement after claims that Fallout 76 is completely open to hacks. Bethesda is investigating to fix these issues.
Bethesda has now officially confirmed that they are aware of Fallout 76 PC hacks and are now planning to fix them. There have been claims that Fallout 76 is very easy to hack and according to Bethesda some of these are inaccurate.
Bethesda released a statement:
We don’t know about these inaccurate and incorrect assumptions yet but it’s safe to say that Bethesda is looking into these issues. This all started when players started modding Fallout 76 and eventually hacked it.
It was reported that there’s no file validation and network traffic is unencrypted. Many players were angry and took it to Reddit to say that Bethesda doesn’t care or can’t stop it from happening.
The upcoming online-only Fallout game has the same engine which was used in Fallout 4. Fallout 4 was a single player game and modders are very skilled when it comes to modding in it. Interestingly, Fallout 4 built-in speed hack when you unlocked FPS is also present in Fallout 76 which is also a disappointment.
No file validation means that the players can make changes to files and tweak different things without the server noticing them. All you have to do is edit the.esm file to walk through walls, the game will not stop you.
These Fallout 76 hacks are definitely a big problem. Though there are some cosmetic only mods already available for the Beta version. These visual mods allow you to change hair color or change menu layout.
We are expecting Bethesda to take a notice and remove them all before game launches on November 14. But don’t worry, Bethesda has guaranteed that they’ll support mods but not just yet. They need a lot of work and will come late in 2019.
