At its X018 event, Microsoft reveals 16 new games that will be joining the Xbox Game Pass library, including PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
At today’s X018 event, Microsoft put a lot of focus into its Xbox Game Pass subscription, which offers gamers a library of digital games (new and old) for a monthly fee. First off, players will be able to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass for $1 if they never have before and a year will be 50% off. But more importantly, Microsoft is adding 16 new games to the Game Pass library from a diverse selection of triple-A and indie.
Of the 16 games joining the Xbox Game Pass library, the marquee title is sure to be PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. While PUBG’s popularity has waned in the face of stiff competition like Fortnite and Black Ops 4, the battle royale title still has plenty of fans and now even more gamers can see what Bluehole’s release is all about.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is another big name title coming to Xbox Game Pass and another that makes sense for the subscription service. After Microsoft announced its acquisition of developer Ninja Theory, it seemed practically a given that Hellblade would eventually become an Xbox Game Pass release. Of course, Microsoft needed to wait and see how the paid Xbox One version did first, but now it’s available to any members.
On the near future front, Microsoft will be adding Ori and the Blind Forest to Xbox Game Pass and its sequel Ori and the Will of the Wisps when it launches next year. As a first party Microsoft title, Ori is another obvious choice for the service, but now it has been confirmed.
Other highlights from the list of 16 game reveals include Agents of Mayhem, Mutant Year Zero, and Secret Neighbor. Check out the full list of games below:
While not the flashiest list of games, there are certainly titles from a wide variety of genres and development studios. PUBG is likely to be the biggest selling point from the new additions but titles like Hellblade and Ori will have their own draws too.
For current subscribers, Microsoft also revealed the Xbox Game Pass app, which helps users see every game that is available on the service without firing up their console. It also lets subscribers queue up downloads, so that new titles will be ready when it’s time to game.
