Washington DC, [USA] Nov 11 (ANI): Paramount Studios cancelled the red carpet premiere of actor Mark Wahlberg’s upcoming movie ‘Instant Family’ on Saturday in the wake of the wildfire spreading across the American state of California.
The studio authorities cancelled the premiere at Los Angeles’ Westwood area and rescheduled it to another location, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.
A studio representative in a statement said that the decision to continue with the screening at a different location was taken because “a number of foster youths and organizations working in the foster community” were scheduled to attend it.
The representative mentioned that the food that was intended to be distributed for the red-carpet event would now be donated to the American Red Cross “which is providing aid to victims of the fires”.
‘Instant Family’, which also stars Rose Byrne, Octavia Spencer, and Tig Notaro, is set to hit theatres on November 16.
The deadly wildfire, which has wreaked havoc, destroyed a record number of buildings and displacing as many as 300,000 people. The fire grew fierce as the state had not witnessed rain in more than a month and dry vegetation worked as fuel.
The White House, late on Friday, had issued a statement issuing emergency in California as the death toll in a fast-moving wildfire rose to nine.
Hollywood stars including Kim Kardashian West, Alyssa Milano, Lady Gaga, Caitlyn Jenner and more were among the thousands of people who were forced to evacuate their homes due to the Woolsey Fire that is ravaging Los Angeles County.
The blaze that started on Thursday night (local time) had pushed towards Malibu and the Pacific Ocean, prompting evacuations in Malibu, Calabasas, Agoura Hills, and other nearby areas.
