Sony has started rolling out Android Pie update for its high-end Xperia XZ2 Premium smartphone.
NEW DELHI: Japanese smartphone maker Sony has started rolling out Android 9.0 Pie update for its Xperia XZ2 Premium smartphone. The update for Xperia XZ2 Premium comes with a build number 52.0. A.3.84 and has it also has the Android security patch for the month of November.
With the Android 9.0 Pie update it is expected that the smartphone will get features like HDR update, new interface for camera app and others. Along with this, the update will also bring features like New system navigation, Smart Text Selection, Redesigned Quick Settings, Simplified Volume Controls, New Dashboard, App Timer, New Do Not Disturb mode and Wind Down feature. It is an incremental update and will reach all the regions gradually.
For those unaware, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium was launched in April this year. The smartphone runs Android 8.0 Oreo operating system and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. The smartphone comes with a 5.8-inch 4K display with 2160×3840 pixel resolution. The display is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass on top.
The smartphone offers 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The users can further expand the storage by adding a microSD card. The device comes with a dual rear camera setup with 19MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 12MP secondary sensor with f/1.6 aperture. The front of the smartphone houses a 13MP wide angle lens camera for selfies.
The device is backed by a 3540mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and wireless charging. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone offers 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
Apart from the Xperia XZ2 Premium, the Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact have already started receiving Android 9.0 Pie operating system update. The company has also confirmed that the Sony Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra, and Xperia XA2 Plus will also get Android Pie by next year.
