Donald Trump Was ‘Flat-Out Lying’ About Russia Dealings, Says Leading Senate Democrat

The president repeatedly said he had no business interests in Russia.
President Donald Trump repeatedly lied about his business ties with Russia while a candidate for the nation’s highest office despite his denials in the wake of former fixer Michael Cohen’s guilty plea with the special counsel investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, according to a top Senate Democrat on Friday.
Senator Chris Coons of Delaware called out the president for his denials about dealings with Russia leading up to his 2016 victory following Cohen’s admission of working on the deal up to June 2016. Cohen told Congress last year that any talks about a Trump Tower in Moscow ended in January 2016.
“First that makes it clear that now President Trump was flat-out lying as candidate trump when he said and tweeted repeatedly I have no business interests in Russia,” Coons told CNN. “He did not say I just wrapped up a business deal and he didn’t say just a few days ago I stopped communicating with the Kremlin and he said categorically I have no business with Russia.
