VLC expects to surpass three billion downloads on Friday, with the majority of those downloads coming from mobile devices. VideoLAN also revealed that the media player will add support for AirPlay.
VLC — the popular, almost universal media player developed by VideoLAN — surpassedthree billion downloads today. A download counter consisting of mobile devices with different screen sizes was set up at VideoLAN’s CES 2019 booth, showing off the media player’s newest milestone, as spotted by Variety.
And it’s no coincidence that the counter comprised smartphones and tablets since mobile devices accounted for around 25% of those downloads.
