The entry-level Redmi phone has always been popular in India. Phones like the Redmi 5A and the Redmi 6 have sold well in India. Now there is a new Redmi phone. The Redmi 7 has been launched in China and is expected to come to India soon at a price of around Rs 7,000.
Similar to what Xiaomi did to the Redmi Note series with the Redmi Note 7, it seems with the Redmi 7 the company is now set give its entry-level Redmi phones a makeover. From Redmi 6 to Redmi 7, Xiaomi is changing a few bits in a significant way. Xiaomi launched the Redmi 7 in China on Monday. It is the successor to the Redmi 6, which was launched in the second half of 2018. Overall, the Redmi 7 is a much upgraded version of the Redmi 6 in terms of specs as well as design.
The Redmi 7 looks almost like the Redmi Note 7 series which means it comes with dot drop notch, slim bezels, gradient finish, among other things. The Redmi 6, on the other hand, looks very basic and sports single colour scheme.
The Redmi 6 is already available in India at starting price of Rs 7,999 for the base model. Xiaomi is yet to reveal the India launch details of the Redmi 7 but whenever it comes to the country we expect the same Chinese model to launch as Indian variant. In China, the Redmi 7 comes in three models — 2GB RAM + 16GB storage for 699 Yuan (approx Rs 7,000), 3GB RAM + 32GB storage for 799 Yuan (approx Rs 8,000) and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage for 999 Yuan (approx Rs 10,000). The India pricing of the Redmi 7 is also expected to be close to the China pricing.
