Melbourne — Former Newcastle Jets player Andy Brennan has revealed he is gay,
becoming what is thought to be the first Australian professional
footballer to come out.
The 26-year-old forward said that following his announcement — a
rarity in football worldwide — he had received strong support from his
family and teammates.
«It’s taken me years to get comfortable saying this — I’m gay,»
Brennan, now with Green Gully Cavaliers in Australia’s second tier,
posted on Instagram.
