For some of the people arrested on protest-related charges by federal authorities in Oregon, their conditions for release include an order that they may not participate in any protests, demonstrations, or rallies, a review of court records shows. After reviewing federal cases between July 23 and July 27, CNN found that at least nine out of 21 defendants arrested for either failing to obey a lawful order or assaulting a federal officer were released on the condition they «not attend any other protests, rallies, assemblies or public gatherings in the state of Oregon,» several release documents said. The wording varied slightly from order to order, however. One order only restricted the defendant from protests in Portland and another order forbid attending any public gatherings regardless of location.
