They’re the first team to win two Overwatch League titles.
The 2018 San Francisco Shock were nothing to write home about. They finished the inaugural Overwatch League season in 9th place out of 12 teams, with a 17-23 record. Parent organization NRG Esports always had the long game in mind, though. And, boy, have the foundations the org put in place during that first year paid off. A stage title in 2019, a golden stage (in which they didn’t drop a single map), two mid-season tournament wins in 2020 and now, back-to-back Overwatch League titles. That’s the record of a dynasty. There’s little doubt about it: the San Francisco Shock are the best Overwatch team ever to do it. There have been plenty of moving parts over the last couple of years.
