Google Pauses Mandatory Play Store Billing in India After CCI Ruling

Google has updated its Play Support help page in India to state that the company has paused its policy requiring app developers to use the Google Play billing system for any purchases of apps and services in the country. The decision of the company comes after a Competition Commission of India (CCI) ruling that directed the company to not restrict app developers from using third-party billing or payment processing services in India.
Alphabet’s Google is pausing its policy that requires app developers to use its Google Play billing system for buying digital goods and services in India, following a ruling by the country’s antitrust body.
Google had previously set an extended deadline of October 31 for developers in India to comply with its payments policy.
