Hunter Biden will testify before Congress, but only if the hearing is held in public, his lawyers said Tuesday in a sharply worded letter to Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, accusing him of a “cloaked, one-sided process,” the latest display of his increasingly aggressive counter-strategy.Key Facts

Biden’s lawyer Abbe Lowell told Comer “a public proceeding would prevent selective leaks, manipulated transcripts, doctored exhibits, or one-sided press statements.”

The letter is in response to a subpoena the committee sent to Hunter Biden earlier this month as part of its long-running investigation into whether his father, President Joe Biden, personally benefited from or unlawfully influenced his family members’ businesses.

Lowell predicted the various witnesses the committee has subpoenaed, including the president’s brother James Biden and Biden family associate Rob Walker, would prove Republican accusations against the president and his family are “baseless,” adding “the American people should see that for themselves.
