With less than a week to go, the U.S. Olympic Team Trials are set to begin in Indianapolis, and several local Raleigh swimmers are poised to make a splash on the national stage.
With less than a week to go, the U.S. Olympic Team Trials are set to begin in Indianapolis, and several local Raleigh swimmers are poised to make a splash on the national stage.
Several local swimmers are preparing to head to Indianapolis to compete for a spot on Team USA.
Dozens of people gathered at The Silverton Swim Club to celebrate young swimmers who are now heading to the national stage.
«They swim three days a week, 5:00 to 630 in the morning and swim Monday through Friday in the afternoons, then lift weights,» said Coach Paul Silver, describing just some of their training.
Coach Silver of the Marlins of Raleigh Swim Team, said it’s that type of dedication that led three of his swimmers to qualify for the Olympic Trials this year.
Since 2001, the team has had swimmers qualify each year for trials.
«It’s real satisfying to see their hard work pay off,» said Silver.
The biggest races are still to come for Hudson.
