Ahead of Google’s Aug. 13 event, we’ve seen a sneak peek of the Pixel 9 Pro, Fold, and Watch 3. Here’s what we know for sure and what we think we know about what Google has in store.
Google will hold a Made by Google event on Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. PT in Mountain View, California, where we will see at least two new Google phones. Traditionally, Google holds its «Made By» event in October, so the move to August is notable. Perhaps Google wants to get ahead of September’s iPhone 16 launch.
The company has released several teaser videos that showcase a couple of products, and it is touting its Gemini AI as a big part of the Made By Google event on its website. Here is how to watch the event, along with everything we know so far.Made By Google: How to Watch
Google’s event will take place in-person at its California headquarters. For those not invited to attend, the event will be livestreamed and recorded to watch later. ASL translations and captions (in English) will be available if needed. Sign up on this page for updates. Preorders will be made available at the end of the show, so keep that credit card handy if you like what you see.Pixel 9 Pro and Fold Official Peeks
Google is controlling its narrative a little more tightly this year, starting with some teaser videos. The first video announced the Aug. 13 Made By Google event, the second gave us a look at the Pixel 9 Pro, while the third debuted the renamed Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Let’s break it down.
The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold feature new rear designs centered around the camera bar. The 9 Pro has a smaller camera housing than before. Instead of traversing the entire back panel, the camera assembly is contained in a pill-shaped camera bump. The front of the phone looks similar to older Pixels; it’s dominated by the screen with thin bezels surrounding the display.
Meanwhile, Google renamed its Fold to give people a better idea of where it fits in the Pixel family. The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold succeeds the 2023 Google Pixel Fold. Google redesigned the Fold’s camera system, too; instead of centered like the 2023 model, the entire module is pushed to the left. The camera bar now stacks its sensors in a more square-like shape with a flash and microphone on one side. Internally, the bezel looks smaller than before. Further, the photos don’t show a camera in the bezel, which suggests Google may have switched to an under-display camera like the one on the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Both devices tout AI capabilities using Google Gemini, which will be important across Google’s Pixel lineup. Unofficial Pixel Info
Like in years past, plenty of Pixel particulars are leaking ahead of time.
