Paul, a 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-fighter, easily defeated Tyson, the 58-year-old heavyweight legend; their 31-year age gap is the largest in the history of the sport, and Paul’s victory was perhaps inevitable.The Pre-Match Hype Was The Best Part
While the match itself was disappointing, the media circus around the event was extremely entertaining, with hype building before the big night, as Tyson fans hoped to see the return of “Iron Mike.”
It certainly didn’t hurt that Tyson was facing off against an obnoxious YouTuber who has built much of his brand on being disliked—there was a sense that many were tuning in just to see Paul face Tyson’s wrath.
Of course, the ever-eccentric Tyson provided some spectacular quotes before the match, claiming to take divine inspiration after smoking toad venom, which resulted in a meeting with God, who commanded Tyson to fight Paul.
