The California governor said his office is «actively responding» after the large quake rocked the state on Thursday.
California’s Governor Gavin Newsom shared guidance for residents to follow after a 7.0 earthquake hit the Golden State on Thursday.
A 7.0 earthquake struck off the coast of Northern California around midday on Thursday, triggering a tsunami warning for parts of the coastline that includes the San Francisco Bay Area. The tsunami warning was lifted shortly after. Newsom and X, formerly Twitter, accounts connected to his office were quick to respond with guidance directly after the quake.
«Officials with @Cal_OES [California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services] are actively responding to the earthquakes this morning in Northern California. Californians should follow guidance from local emergency responders», the Democratic governor posted on his official account.
«Get earthquake safety tips», he added, reposting an X post from @Cal_OES.
«Following the earthquakes in Humboldt and Lake counties,@Cal_OES is coordinating with @LakeCountyInfo and @HumCoOES and state and local responders to assess impacts.
