The Minnesota Vikings trading quarterback Sam Howell could lead to a second deal.
All offseason long, the Minnesota Vikings have been linked as a team who could make a move at the quarterback position.
While J.J. McCarthy has been the clear starter, the situation behind him hasn’t been great. Sam Howell was unable to prove that he could be a reliable backup. That led to a move being made following the team’s preseason finale.
On Sunday morning, the Vikings decided to trade Sam Howell to the Philadelphia Eagles. In exchange, they received a fifth-round pick in 2026 and a seventh-round selection in 2027. They also gave up a sixth-round pick in 2026.
Adding another fifth-round pick and an additional seventh-round pick could help Minnesota make a secondary move.
