A new cooling technology that enables improved heat dissipation could allow the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro to hit 5.00GHz clock speeds
Smartphone chipsets have been tamed well with the use of vapor chambers, but their limitations are evident, as SoCs like the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 are targeting higher frequencies to reach better single-core and multi-core performance, but at the cost of rising temperatures.
Later this year, Qualcomm is expected to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and thanks to utilizing TSMC’s newer 2nm N2P process, these chipsets should reach a higher frequency, but the same thermal ceiling will be reached.
Fortunately, one tipster states that the minimum clock speed for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro will be 5.00GHz, and that will likely be achieved with specialized heat dissipation technology already present on an existing silicon. The use of Samsung’s Heat Pass Block, which is employed on the Exynos 2600, is expected to be applied to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro to reach that minimum 5.
