National holidays always have an impact on trading action. Here’s how to plan your investment timing for Memorial Day Weekend, 2017.
WASHINGTON, May 24,2017 – As the end of May 2017 draws near, it’s time once again to plan ahead for reduced holiday trading hours that could affect buys, sells and cash deposits and withdrawals in your investment accounts.
The following is the trading schedule for stocks, bonds and most other equities this weekend, May 26-May 30,2017:
Friday, May 26,2017
U. S. equities markets (including options) will observe normal trading hours.
U. S. Bond Markets will close early at 2: 00 pm ET on Friday, May 26,2017. Fixed income orders placed after 2: 00 pm ET on Friday, May 26,2017 will be entered for the next business day, Tuesday, May 30,2017.
Monday, May 29,2017: Memorial Day Observed
All U. S. markets (including equity, option, and fixed income) will be closed in observance of Memorial Day. In addition, there will be no pre-market or after hours trading.
Canadian Markets will be open, but Canadian equity orders placed after the U. S. markets close on Friday, May 26,2017, will route to Canadian exchanges on Tuesday, May 30,2017.
Tuesday, May 30,2017
All U. S. markets reopen for regular trading. Please note that as U. S. exchanges closed for the Memorial Day Holiday on Monday, May 29,2017, regular way settlement for U. S. trades will take an extra day since Monday is not a business day.
