Bring on the Trump testimony.
Bring on the Trump testimony.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Sunday called on President Trump to testify before the Senate about the Russian investigation — since the commander-in-chief said he would be “100 percent” willing to speak.
“I think we could work out a way that it could be dignified, ” the New York Democrat said on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”
“He said he would testify. So I’m inviting him to come testify, and we could work that out… He’s the President of the United States and he’s got to step up to the plate.”

Trump said Friday he would have zero problems testifying under oath to counter the accusations against him from former FBI Director James Comey.
Comey testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee last week and said he felt Trump pressured him to drop the federal investigation into ties between the Trump campaign and Russia. Some political and legal leaders believe Comey detailed a case for obstruction of justice.
Comey also called Trump a liar and said he felt he needed to document their conversations in case Trump spread mistruths.
The next day, Trump roundly denied Comey’s claims — suggesting the one-time FBI leader committed perjury — and said he would be “glad” to offer his own testimony to Special Counsel Robert Mueller. But he and his legal team have not taken further steps.
Schumer: Trump must ‘look in the mirror’ for reasons on vacancies
A Trump testimony would potentially clear up many of the lingering mysteries from Comey’s testimony — such as whether Trump actually has tapes of their conversations.
After Trump fired Comey in May, he tweeted an apparent threat that Comey should hope there are not “tapes” of their talks. Comey told the Senate he wasn’ t aware of any recordings, and the White House has yet to give an answer, claiming Trump will talk more about it later this week.
Schumer said he wanted to see “no more game playing” from Trump about the tapes.
“He should make them public right away, ” he said.
