A mini version of Google Home is expected to rock up this Wednesday, but what about Google Home Max? We outline the latest news and rumours, and offer what could be the live stream and live blog for the Google Home Max launch event.
Google is reported to be working on new products in its Google Home line-up. A mini version of the original speaker is almost certainly coming this Wednesday, but there’s also talk of a Google Home Max.
We don’t know when it will be announced, but there is a slim chance we could see it unveiled later this week — especially with Amazon’s round of new Echo devices unveiled last week and Apple’s upcoming HomePod that’s due in December. So, just in case, we’ve embedded to this article the live stream (above) and our live blog (at the bottom of the page) from Google’s special event that takes place this Wednesday at 4pm BST.
According to 9to5Google, the Max is an enhanced version of Google Home with stereo speakers. We would expect it to therefore cost more and potentially have a larger footprint than the original.
‘Max’ is merely the internal name for the project, reports the site, so we can’t be sure for now exactly what this improved smart-home device will be called.
However, sources report that it has a premium design and stereo speakers that will likely involve dual mid-range drivers and a single tweeter .
The Google Home Max was allegedly among products shown in a Google focus group earlier this year. The most interesting thing about this is the fact all the other products shown — the Google Home Mini, Pixelbook and some Google Assistant earphones (expected to be bundled with Pixel 2) — should be unveiled this week.
