After a month filled with leaks, Razer has now finally announced its smartphone offering quite an impressive set of specifications. The handset will have a 120Hz QHD display, 8GB RAM, and more.
Before, showing off its new smartphone, Razer explained a bit about its business and how it’s composed of hardware, software, and services. All of these are meant to cater to its customers who are also gamers and to provide the best experience possible. After dominating the gaming hardware with its accessories and PC devices, the firm is now ready to move into its next phase with smartphones.
Razer had been teasing a smartphone release, even going as far as stating that it would debut something before the end of the year. True to its word, the firm has now revealed its first offering to the world in the form of the Razer Phone. As you can tell from the image, it looks quite similar to the Nextbit Robin, which the firm purchased at the top of the year, but has a more muted design with its black colorway.
The «Ultimate in Mobile Entertainment» is comprised of five things with the first being its screen that is proprietary to Razer offering a 120Hz Ultramotion Display. What makes this display special is that it offers something called Ultramotion, which is an adaptive refresh technology that synchronizes with the GPU and the display. This will prevent ghosting, graphical tearing, motion lag, and improves battery life.
Audio is also an important part of the mobile experience, and the Razer Phone doesn’t disappoint by having dual front-facing speakers, offering the «loudest» experience powered by Dolby Atmos and certified by THX. As far as the performance goes, the phone utilizes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor and is paired with 8GB RAM. This would put the phone in the top-tier of elite handsets, edging out even the Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note8, LG V30, and more. In order to gain an edge, Razer also made sure to provide the phone with proper thermal displacement.
Now, to power all of this, Razer didn’t skimp on the battery, packing the handset with a 4,000mAh unit. If you need to charge up quickly, it will also pack Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+, that will be able to charge it in an hour’s time from zero to 85%. The rear camera is packing dual 12MP sensors with one wide-angle and the other being a telephoto. It will also have some software enhancements that will provide accurate colors, excellent depth of field, and more.
As for specifications, the handset offers:
From its specifications alone, the smartphone is a beast, trumping a majority of devices now currently available from the likes of Samsung, LG, Essential, and more. The handset will arrive on November 17 for the United States and Europe and will be priced at $699.
