Google has announced Datally, a mobile data tracking app. The company says that this is meant to help smartphone users “understand, control, and save mobile data.” Essentially providing easy to read and understand metrics for which apps end up draining that monthly quota.
Datally is based on four distinct features, the first of which is the actual data saving application. With it, users can manually control which apps are allowed access to the connection while operating in the background. According to Google, its tests show data savings of up to 30% from those given early access.
The app is also capable of activating a Data Saver bubble, which alerts users to the amount of data being used while in an app. Ideally, this keeps track of how much is used while streaming or gaming; to prevent people from going overboard with how much they end up using.
Finally, Datally provides personalised alerts to users, while also helping them look for public WiFi. The WiFi finder also cross checks networks rated by the community to ensure that they are safe.
Datally works on all devices running Android 5.0 and later, and is currently available on the Google Play Store .
