Samsung Galaxy S9 Unpacked event will be taking place at Barcelona on February 25. The South Korean firm has officially confirmed the date by sending out invites for the event.
Samsung has officially confirmed the launch date for its upcoming Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones. Just like every other year, the all-new Galaxy flagships will be unveiled at the company’s “Unpacked Event”.
The South Korean firm has started sending out invites for the global launch of the Galaxy S9 brothers. The event will be taking place at the MWC 2018 in Barcelona on February 25. The launch would be streaming live worldwide, and fans in India could join in at 10:30 PM IST.
The invite comes with the tagline “The camera. Reimagined” which makes us believe that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ would come with all new cameras. Samsung had apparently made major changes to its flagship camera setup with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, wherein it debuted its Dual Pixel Autofocus technology. And both the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S8 came with the same shooter. Now, if rumors are to believed, the Samsung Galaxy S9+ will come with a dual rear camera.
The Samsung Galaxy S9, on the other hand, will come with a single rear shooter but is expected to pack numerous tricks down its sleeve. These will include features like variable aperture, 1080p videos at 480fps and improved low light autofocus. Samsung apparently showcased the variable aperture feature with its latest flip phone. Additionally, Samsung is expected to use a new ISOCELL camera sensor in its upcoming Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.
Talking of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will feature a similar sized 5.8-inch QHD+ AMOLED display as found in its predecessor. The Galaxy S9+, on the other hand, is expected to have a slightly larger footprint as compared to Galaxy S8+. The presence of the dual rear camera setup will play an important role in that. Furthermore, the flagships will come with IP68 water/dust resistance and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The upcoming Samsung flagships are expected to cost slightly more than last year. Samsung has been increasing the price of its flagship devices every year, and it’s hard to believe that 2018 will be an exception. The base variant of the Galaxy S9 is expected to cost upwards of $999 mark.
