The Battlefield franchise will be returning to a Second World War setting for the first time since 2009’s Battlefield 1943.
As reported by Gamesbeat, the project was previously known as Battlefield 2 while in development, but is now known as Battlefield V.
The game is set to be an entirely new one, and not a remaster of Battlefield 2, but EA is yet to reveal any further details.

Battlefield 1 was a massive success, surpassing 25 million players and selling copies much faster than Battlefield 4. The developers of the game recently spoke about how they were trying to combat cheating in the game to improve play for gamers.
EA recently revealed that they were pushing back the new multiplayer game Anthem to 2019, but insisted that it was not a delay. The publisher also said that a new Battlefield game would be filling the 2018 gap in Anthem’s stead. That is likely going to be Battlefield V.
Last year, rival publishers Activision released Call of Duty: WWII to huge success. Call of Duty: WWII was the most popular game in the franchise since Black Ops 2 in 2012, showing that there is still a public interest in WWII games.
