A Central Michigan University official previously said the 19-year-old faces two counts of murder.
MOUNT PLEASANT, MI — The 19-year-old accused of fatally shooting his mother and father in his Central Michigan University dorm room is slated for arraignment Tuesday afternoon on murder charges.
James Eric Davis Jr. is scheduled for a 2 p.m. arraignment before Isabella County Judge Paul H. Chamberlain, according to court officials.
A CMU spokesperson previously said Davis faces two counts of murder and a felony firearm charge in connection with the March 2 double homicide.
After his capture early Saturday morning, Davis was held at an area hospital for treatment of hypothermia. According to inmate records, Davis has not yet been moved to the Isabella County Jail as of 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Davis’ parents — James Davis Sr. and Diva Davis — were helping him move out for spring break when he allegedly took his father’s pistol from the family vehicle, returned to his fourth-floor room at Campbell Hall and shot both his parents dead.
Davis Jr. then fled Campbell Hall along railroad tracks and, after a 15-hour manhunt, was found a little more than a half mile away and taken into custody.
Police officials have not disclosed a suspected motivation for the double slaying.
The night before the shooting, Davis Jr. exhibited erractic behavior that police suspected was drug induced, officials previously said. He was taken to an area hospital, where his parents picked him up the morning of the shooting.
