Two explosive eruptions were observed at around 1:55 a.m. and 4:25 a.m. local time on the volcano.
Japanese authorities issued a warning to expand the area deemed at risk of flying rocks as Mount Shinmoedake’s volcano continued to erupt Saturday.
Two explosive eruptions were observed at around 1:55 a.m. and 4:25 a.m. local time on the volcano, the Meteorological Agency said, according to the Japan Times. And smoke rose 15,000 ft. in the air. The advisory has not yet approached evacuation levels.
Mount Shinmoedake, which is on Kyushu Island, appeared in the 1967 James Bond film  You Only Live Twice .
