«… I feel like we will see the true change over time.»
Two black men, Donte Robinson and Rashon Nelson, who were arrested for sitting in a Starbucks without purchasing anything, have settled with the city of Philadelphia for a symbolic $1 each.
The Associated Press (AP) reported the settlement came with the promise from city officials that they would set up a $200,000 program for young entrepreneurs like themselves.
As far as the $1 payment to each of the men, it wasn’t anything more than a symbolic gesture.
“We thought long and hard about it, and we feel like this is the best way to see that change that we want to see,” Robinson told the AP.
