Hopefully camping will be a little bit harder now
Hunt: Showdown has been in early access since late February, and the game has finally gotten its first major patch. While this patch may have taken a while, it’s got plenty of changes in store for players now that it’s here.
This first update’s main purpose was to help combat the rampant camping that players have taken to in Hunt: Showdown. While the developers at Crytek want camping to be a valid option for players, they certainly don’t want it to be an automatic win, nor the only viable strategy. In order to help make this happen, Crytek adjusted many of the areas of the game’s map to make camping a bit more difficult. Another change that should help encourage players to take risks is that killing the boss monster in each match will grant full health and even a bit of bonus health to the player that manages to kill it.
Those aren’t the only major changes coming with this patch though. The content update is also adding a host of new weapons, along with some new sniper scopes, as well as 12 new Hunter Traits for players to try out.
Here’s the list of new weapons and items, via Crytek’s blog:
…the Nagant M1895 Deadeye (a pistol with a short scope), the Vetterli 71 Deadeye (a rifle with a short scope), the Winfield 1873 Marksman (a rifle with a medium scope), the Mosin-Nagant M1891 Sniper (a rifle with a long scope), the Sparks LRR Sniper (a rifle with a long scope), a Flash Bomb (delivers a blinding flashbang), a Poison Bomb (creates a cloud of poison gas which causes damage over time, similar to the spider’s poison attack), and a Spyglass.
Each of the boss monsters are also getting a few changes, but mostly relate to specific balance tweaks like more damage on certain abilities or some extra health. Similarly, a few of the game’s older guns are getting increased damage including all Winfield rifles, Caldwell Conversion pistols and Nagant M1895 pistols.
Alongside these in-game changes, Crytek has also pushed a few bug fixes with this patch that should help the game run smoother and with a more consistent frame rate. As compensation for the technical issues of last patch, the developers are adding $4,000 to everyone’s account.
