Hollywood, for the most part, was not thrilled with the recent passage of the Republican-championed Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Director Rob Reiner called it “piggish” and said that it was driven by “Putin-envy”:
Let oligarchy reign! DT’s piggish tax bill satisfies his Putin-envy. But lining his pockets will be cold comfort when he’s kicked out of WH

Actress Alyssa Milano called it “stealing from the poor”:

But acclaimed director Ridley Scott (“Blade Runner” and “The Martian”) sees things a different way. His latest film, “All the Money in the World,” saw a bit of a shake-up when actor Kevin Spacey was accused of sexually assault by actor Anthony Rapp — he had to recut the film with a replacement actor, Christopher Plummer.
Scott brought up the GOP tax plan while discussing that film with The Denver Post:
Q: There’s a lot commentary in this film about the value of human life, class struggles and the role of wealth in society. Do you think there’s anything to be learned from it at this moment in America?
A: Well, let’s take the tax bill. People say (Republicans) are doing it for the wealthy class. What they forget is if you get a clever, un-selfish business person — I don’t care if it’s a corner store or a big business — who’s suddenly saving 15 percent, they’ll put it back in this business. Then you’re going to get growth and therefore (people) will get employed. My concern is with the elderly, the infirm and the youth who need to have chances and shots for every level, and equality in education. But you have to use it. You have to get your (expletive) head down and use it.
Not what anyone expected to hear out of Hollywood.
