80’s tribute band Decadia celebrated their six-year anniversary as a group with a rocking show at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall on January 12.
They shared the stage with The 90’s Band, as part of 80’s vs. 90’s Night, and fortunately last night, the weather was a lot warmer than the previous weekend. They opened their set on an inspirational note with Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” where they revealed that they were celebrating their six-year anniversary.
Front-woman Genessa was gracious enough to dedicate the Joan Jett classic “I Hate Myself for Loving You” to this journalist, and she followed it up with two killer Pat Benatar vocals, “Shadows of The Night” and “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” where the stage was graced with purple and green lights respectively.
The group did a solid job on Fleetwood Mac’s “Don’t Stop,” while “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses was an instrumental and vocal masterpiece; moreover, it was certainly one of the fan favorite songs of the night. They tipped their hats to the British rock band The Outfield with “Your Love” and all the vocalists of Decadia joined forces for a powerhouse version of Queen’s “Under Pressure,” which was sheer nostalgia.
The Verdict
Overall, it was a special night for Decadia at Mulcahy’s. Hopefully, there will be many more shows from them on Long Island in the near future. They are all well-rounded and talented musicians, and their music allows their audience to relive their youth. Decadia is certainly one of the best 80’s tribute acts that New York has to offer. Their live show garnered an A rating.
