Cosby’s lawyers have said they will seek to push back next month’s retrial if more accusers from the list are allowed to testify.
Disgraced funnyman Bill Cosby will return to a Pennsylvania courtroom Monday as prosecutors attempt to convince a judge to allow 19 of his accusers to take the stand during his upcoming sex-abuse retrial.
Montgomery County Judge Steven O’Neill only allowed one woman to take the stand during the 80-year-old’s first trial, which ended with a hung jury last year after nearly 60 hours of deliberations. The woman, Andrea Constand, had accused Cosby of drugging and molesting her in 2004.
Cosby’s lawyers have said they will seek to push back next month’s retrial if more accusers from the list – which now include supermodel Janice Dickinson – are allowed to testify. Prosecutors have sought to include the other women to try to establish a pattern of alleged abuse.
Jury selection in Cosby’s retrial is scheduled to begin March 29, with opening statements expected April 2.
“America’s dad” is facing three charges of aggravated indecent assault involving Constand.
Cosby’s appearance will come a week after daughter Ensa, 44, passed away from kidney failure.
